SPITZ HOPING TO CARRY KOREA MOMENTUM INTO DUTCH LADIES OPEN

Emma Spitz is riding high after a strong T4 finish at last week’s Aramco Korea Championship, and she’s looking to carry that momentum into the Dutch Ladies Open at Goyer Golf and Country Club.

The 25-year-old Austrian arrived in the Netherlands on Monday, and is feeling confident after a solid showing in tough conditions in Korea.

It felt great to get going again after a three-week break and see the progress from what we’ve been working on,” said Spitz. “The course in Korea was challenging, and the weather wasn’t easy, but I tend to perform well in those conditions.”

Spitz kept things steady over the first two rounds in Korea before making some big moves with her putter in the final round.

I played pretty smart golf – some birdies, a few bogeys – but I really rolled it well on the last day and made some great birdies. Finishing fourth was unexpected, but really happy with that.”

Since turning professional in 2022, Spitz will be seeking her first LET win here in the Netherlands this week.

I’ve been putting a lot of work into my long game – irons and wedges, especially,” she explained. “That’s usually a strength of mine, but it wasn’t quite where I wanted it before Korea. I wouldn’t say it was perfect last week, but it’s definitely trending in the right direction. I was talking to my coach, and we both feel good about the progress.”

With the Dutch Ladies Open bringing a new challenge, Spitz is keeping things simple.

It’s a totally different course, and it’s really dry – you can tell it hasn’t rained in a while! Hopefully we don’t bring the rain with us this week. The course is nice, and I’m just going to keep doing what I’ve been doing all season and trust it’ll pay off.

Off the course, Spitz has been enjoying her return to Europe.

We went into the city after landing on Monday and did a bit of sightseeing. I’m not usually the tourist type, but we had some time and thought, why not. It’s just nice to be back in Europe again.”

The Austrian will be playing round one at 1:12pm local time on Friday, alongside England’s Mimi Rhodes and Spain’s Marta Martin.
