The Ladies European Tour (LET) and Women’s Professional Golf Association of South Africa (WPGA) are delighted to jointly announce their agreement with World Sport Promotions to extend the South African Women’s Open through to 2021.
The success of the tournament over the first three years of the relationship has created a tremendous boost to women’s professional golf in South Africa and all parties are delighted to announce a ground breaking extension which sets the foundation for continual growth of the game in the region from grass roots development to the professional game.
Ladies European Tour CEO Ivan Khodabakhsh commented: “We are thrilled to deepen our relationship with the WPGA and with World Sport Promotions who deliver high quality golf tournaments. An extension until 2021 is an expression of our commitment to South Africa and our wish to help grow the game. The Ladies European Tour members always enjoy competing in the region and are committed to inspiring more young girls to participate.”
Barbara Pestana, Executive Director of the WPGA said: “The seven year extension of the SA Women’s Open to 2021 is testament to the joint success story between the WPGA, The Ladies European Tour and World Sport Promotions. This extension underlines the significance of this championship and the long term commitment mirrors our joint goal to provide a sustainable competitive platform to continue shaping the future of our players for years to come.”
