Swedish Solheim Cup stars Caroline Hedwall (left), Anna Nordqvist (right) and Carin Koch (second from right) will be at the Helsinborg Open on September 5 to 8. |
Anna Nordqvist and Caroline Hedwall were an unbeaten duo in the foursomes on the winning team that took the historic first European Solheim Cup victory on American soil. Now the Swedish stars – and the trophy – go to Sweden for the new Ladies European Tour tournament Helsingborg Open at Vasatorp September 5 to 8.
“It will be loads of fun to play in Sweden again. We’ve been missing a tournament a few years now. To also come home with the Solheim Cup trophy in the trunk feels absolutely fantastic,” said Caroline Hedwall, who now lives in Helsingborg.
‘Carro’ became The Solheim Cup queen, as the first player in Cup history to win five points from five matches. Anna Nordqvist took 2.5 points and made the first hole-in-one in Solheim Cup history to seal a second foursomes point on day two, against Morgan Pressel and Jessica Korda.
Europe’s vice captain Carin Koch will also play in the Helsingborg Open, along with European Team helper Sophie Gustafson and fellow former European Team members Laura Davies, Trish Johnson who were working for Sky Sports’ television coverage.
Former world number 10, IK Kim of South Korea and eight previous Solheim Cup stars are on the entry list for Vasatorp. Crowd favorite Christina Kim is amongst them, along with Maria Hjorth, Melissa Reid, Gwladys Nocera and Iben Tinning.
There will be a Solheim Cup fever at the Helsingborg Open in Vasatorp on 5-8 September. Anyone who comes to Vasatorp with Solheim Cup memorabilia or a souvenir from this or any previous Solheim Cup contest will receive free admission on Friday, September 6!
