Vallda Golf & Country Club in Valldadalen, outside Kungsbacka, will be the host venue for the 2021 Scandinavian Mixed Hosted by Henrik & Annika from June 10-13, 2021.
The venue, just south of Gothenburg, was established in 2009 and will stage the innovative mixed event hosted by Major Champions Henrik Stenson and Annika Sörenstam for the first time following the cancellation of the inaugural 2020 edition, scheduled to take place at Bro Hof Slott Golf Club in Stockholm, Sweden, earlier this year due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
As part of the European Tour’s commitment to inclusivity in golf, 78 men and 78 women will go head-to-head for the first time on the same course competing for one prize fund and one trophy, with the event co-sanctioned by the European Tour and Ladies European Tour.
“We are delighted Vallda Golf & Country Club has been announced as host venue of the Scandinavian Mixed in 2021,” said Stenson, an 11-time European Tour winner. “It has been an exceptionally tough year for many people, and we are truly fortunate that golf is being played around the world during these unprecedented times.
“Annika and I were both disappointed that we were unable to stage the Scandinavian Mixed in Stockholm this year, however the health and safety of our golfing community was of paramount importance to us, and we now look to hosting the event in 2021 at Vallda near Gothenburg. I played the course a few weeks ago and I’m sure it will offer a challenging test for the men and women set to compete against each other for the title next year.”
Ten-time Major winner Sörenstam added: “I’m looking forward to hosting the Scandinavian Mixed next year alongside Henrik at Vallda Golf & Country Club. It is unfortunate we were unable to put on the event in Stockholm earlier this year, however it is exciting that we will have the opportunity to bring women and men together in a combined tournament next season. It is great we can promote golf in Sweden to young boys and girls, as well as on the global stage, as we continue to showcase golf as a game for everyone.”
Johan Rosén, CEO of Vallda Golf & Country Club, said: “We are extremely proud and we cannot wait to welcome Henrik and Annika, as well as players from the European Tour and Ladies European Tour, to our golf course next year for the Scandinavian Mixed Hosted by Henrik and Annika.
“This exciting tournament has the ability to bring people together in a positive way on equal terms, both on the local and international stage through the game of golf, and it is something that we at Vallda Golf & Country Club support wholeheartedly.
“Through hosting, we hope that we can contribute to the long-term development of Gothenburg and Kungsbacka as a destination for both the business community and the citizens, which is an important part of our owner Ernst Rosén AB’s overarching strategy.”
The Scandinavian Mixed Hosted by Henrik and Annika is a European Tour owned event and promoted in conjunction with our commercial partners We Do Sports in Sweden.
