RUDGELEY REMAINING RELAXED AHEAD OF WEEKEND AT WOLLONGONG

Kirsten Rudgeley

Kirsten Rudgeley is known for her relaxed demeanour on and off the golf course and that is no different during this week’s Ford Women’s NSW Open.

The 24-year-old from Perth was one of the co-leaders at the end of the first round after carding a 65 (-6).

A round of 68 (-3) on day two sees the Australian in outright third place on nine-under-par three strokes behind the leading duo of Mimi Rhodes and Sara Kouskova.

Rudgeley only had one dropped shot on her scorecard on the seventh hole, which was playing as the second-hardest hole on day two.

She also had birdies on the fourth, 11th, 15th and 18th holes for her round of three-under at Wollongong Golf Club.

“It was a pretty relaxing round of golf,” she said. “I didn’t do too much wrong and if I did do anything wrong then my putter helped me out, which is always a little bonus to have that there. I’m playing steady and we’ll see how the rest of the week goes.

“There are a few touch-ups, but that’s golf and you’re never going to play a perfect round of golf anyway. I’ll go do a bit of shopping now and chill out. I might even go to the beach, we’ll see what happens.”

Rudgeley is perfectly poised just behind the leaders heading into the weekend, but that won’t change her mindset.

She added: “I take it one shot at a time. Golf is a silly game, it’s hard. It’s all about millimetres and it’s just one of those things. You just walk around the park and it’s nice to have the water to look at while you’re out there.

“It’s nice to see and it’s something different because it’s not all green around you. I will just go out there, do the same thing and we’ll see what happens.”
