Kirsten Rudgeley ended the Ladies European Tour (LET) Australian swing on a high with a T2 finish at the Ford Women’s NSW Open.
The Australian produced rounds of 65-68-68-68 to end the week in a share of second place, two strokes behind winner Mimi Rhodes at Wollongong.
Having played solidly throughout the second week, Rudgeley was pleased with her performance and especially recording four rounds under par.
The 24-year-old had been frustrated that her game was not producing the results she wanted, however she believes it’s now trending in the right direction.
“It was a great way to finish the LET stint here in Australia,” she said. “It was really nice to have not just four rounds of golf but four rounds under par this week. I think I didn’t have many bogeys which is always a bonus. Overall, I’m happy with the way I’m going.
“To be honest, I was getting a bit disappointed with my golf towards the end of last year and even at the start of this year being in Saudi where I just wasn’t playing [my best], and I wasn’t getting the results I was probably after. It’s nice to be in this position again [competing] and to be able to just experience it.
“I just keep pushing. It’s just golf. Overall, I can’t be disappointed with the way I played. I played really well and there’s always something to improve on, so we’ll keep going.”
Rudgeley is playing at the World Sand Greens Championship this week before taking some time off in April.
She added: “I’m really looking forward to it. Actually, it should be a good week. I don’t know what to expect, but now we’ll go out there and have a bit of fun and then it will be nice to have a little break at home. See my nan and the family and friends. Then the Europe swing starts.”
