RACE TO COSTA DEL SOL GOES DOWN TO THE WIRE IN SPAIN

After 28 events, the 2023 Race to Costa del Sol title has come down to the season-ending Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España.

The season-long race to crown the LET’s number one player has seen several different leaders across the season.

India’s Aditi Ashok started off strong after her phenomenal start to 2023 before the consistency of Spain’s Ana Peláez Trivino put her at the top of the standings.

However, France’s Celine Boutier put herself in firm contention for the trophy after winning the Amundi Evian Championship and FREED GROUP Women’s Scottish Open Presented by Trust Golf in back-to-back weeks over the summer.

She also added a top 20 at the AIG Women’s Open and a T10 finish at the Lacoste Ladies Open de France to give her a big lead.

But last week, she was finally overtaken when Thailand’s Trichat Cheenglab climbed to the top of the standings.

The rookie finished in solo second place at the Mallorca Ladies Open and as such heads into the final LET event of the year with a lead of 168.84 points.

There are six players who can mathematically win the title in Spain with Cheenglab, Boutier and Peláez Trivino joined by winners this season Diksha Dagar, Johanna Gustavsson and Alexandra Försterling.

In a similar fashion to last season, the title will be decided at the end of the week with the final LET winner being decided as well as the Race to Costa del Sol champion.

While Rookie of the Year will also reach its conclusion at the end of the week with Cheenglab and Försterling the two players in contention.

All eyes will be on Spain and Real Club de Golf Las Brisas to see who will come out on top and claim the prestigious Race to Costa del Sol title.
