RACE TO BE ON TEAM EUROPE ENTERS FINAL WEEK AS THE SOLHEIM CUP APPROACHES

The countdown to the 2021 Solheim Cup is well and truly on with just one qualifying event left until the teams are confirmed.

Team Europe will comprise of the top two players on the LET Solheim Cup Points ranking, the top four eligible players appearing on the Rolex Women’s World Rankings and six Captain’s picks.

As it stands with just the AIG Women’s Open to play, 2020 Race to Costa del Sol champion Emily Kristine Pedersen leads the LET points list with 126.38 to her name.

Finland’s Sanna Nuutinen is in second place with 81.75 but England’s Alice Hewson is close behind on 77.17, Charley Hull has 70.75 and Nanna Koerstz Madsen has 69.08.

In the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings, the four spots are occupied by 2020 AIG Women’s Open champion Sophia Popov, four-time Solheim Cup player Hull, Spain’s Carlota Ciganda and England’s Georgia Hall.

With the AIG Women’s Open being a Major tournament, there are more LET Solheim Cup points on offer this week.

The battle to claim the automatic spots reaches its climax while it is also the final week for players to impress Captain Catriona Matthew to try and get a pick.
