Ahead of the 2023 PING Junior Solheim Cup at La Zagaleta, the qualification process for earning a spot on Team Europe has now been confirmed as the team get ready to defend the trophy they won in Ohio in 2021.

Twelve of Europe’s brightest young female golfers between the age of 12 and 18 will battle against Team USA on the Old Course at La Zagaleta on 18-19 September, 2023.

Team Europe will be made up of the leading six players from the PING Junior Solheim Cup ranking who will be automatically selected, while there will also be six Captain’s picks based on performances at leading amateur events and the European Women’s Amateur Ranking.

Triumphant Team Europe at the 2021 PING Junior Solheim Cup with John Solheim.

“It is just under one year to go until the 2023 PING Junior Solheim Cup at La Zagaleta in Spain. The level of competition in the PING Junior Solheim Cup is continually improving and it is vital that the qualifying events attract the top young ladies from across Europe,” said John Solheim, PING Chairman & CEO.

“The schedule of 10 events across Europe next year will bring out the best Europe has to offer with the top female junior players competing for their countries to try and earn a spot on the European PING Junior Solheim Cup team and defend the trophy they triumphantly won in Ohio in 2021. We’ll be following the rankings with great interest as the team forms over the next year and we look forward to personally meeting all of the players in Spain.”

Alexandra Armas, CEO of the Ladies European Tour, said: “The PING Junior Solheim Cup provides an excellent opportunity for the top 12 European female amateur golfers to gain experience in international matches, as well as to meet, learn from and be inspired by the professional players who will compete in the Solheim Cup.

“Playing in the PING Junior Solheim Cup gives the players an opportunity to set them on the road to being the stars of the future with so many former players competing on the LET and LPGA. With the qualifying events announced, I look forward to seeing how the team shapes up as Team Europe get ready to defend their trophy at La Zagaleta in Spain.”
