Q-SCHOOL WINNER DARQUEA PROUD TO BE FIRST ECUADORIAN ON THE LET

Daniela Darquea

Daniela Darquea secured a one-stroke victory at Lalla Aicha Q-School last month to secure her Ladies European Tour (LET) card for 2025.

After rounds of 65-72-68-66-68 at Royal Golf and Al Maaden Golf, the 29-year-old triumphed with a score of 24-under-par in Morocco.

Darquea came into LET Q-School off the back of competing at LPGA Q-Series but changed her mindset in Marrakech after a stressful week in the US.

“It means a lot to get my LET card, I came here with a goal, and I think I accomplished it,” she said.

“I’m really happy and really proud. I had a lot of fun, that was the main thing. I came here with a different mindset; I had a very stressful week last week at LPGA Q-School in the US.

“This week has been very fun; I have been seeing lots of friends and have just been enjoying the competition.”

After the 90-hole contest was over, the 24 players who secured Category 12 status for 2025 were presented with their cards and treated to traditional Moroccan music.

It was an especially proud moment for Darquea as she became the first Ecuadorian to secure their LET card.

She explained: “That was fun! I saw the drummers walking up when we were finishing, all the music and the laughs, and seeing my friends knowing they made the Tour too.

“I’m really excited and happy for everyone and I think it’s going to be a great year. One of the main things that really grabs my attention is to travel see the world and learn about different cultures. I’m really excited about that.

A lot of people back home have been supporting me and following me this week, I’m just so proud to be able to represent them. Ecuador is my home country and I’m so proud to be Ecuadorian.”

Although she missed out on LPGA status for 2025, Darquea still has status on the Epson Tour so will be balancing her time between there and the LET this season.

The Olympian added: “I definitely have to make a plan and see what tournaments I’m going to be able to play. Obviously, I want to compete on the LET and play the best golf that I can.

“Having a good week at the end of the year is really good, it boosts your confidence, and it really reassures you that you’re doing a good job.”
