Congratulations to the LET’s European Solheim Cup Director and Account Manager Polly Clark and her fellow leaders from The R&A’s Women in Golf Leadership Development Programme who won the award for best Women’s Initiative in the inaugural Women in Golf Awards last night for their work on Project Ukraine.
Project Ukraine, an initiative supporting young Ukrainian golfers displaced by war, took shape to find a way to reunite players, and their parents, from the Ukrainian National Junior Team that were displaced from the war and help them get back to the tee together.
Project Ukraine successfully ran a six-day golf coaching clinic at Macdonald Cardrona Hotel in Peebles, Scotland, from 30th September – 5th October 2022. The young golfers benefitted from high-quality coaching and clinics, health and nutrition sessions, mental skills and Rules of Golf workshops, and special visits with some of their idols, including Rory McIlroy. Many of the Ukrainian golfers exclaimed it was the “best week of their lives.”
Project Ukraine is now moving into phase two of the initiative to raise funds for post-secondary education for 17 exceptional junior golfers and their families displaced by the war and is looking to raise £170,000.
