The Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open is Carly Booth’s favourite tournament of the year. Little wonder: she captured the title at Archerfield Links in 2012 and finished tied for fourth at the same venue in 2013.
How much are you looking forward to the Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open?
I’m very excited. It’s my favourite tournament all year as it has such special memories. It’s one event if the year I have family around which also makes to very special because I feel at home.
What are your abiding memories from your win at Archerfield in 2013?
My win was in 2012 and it was the best feeling, a feeling for what we work towards every day so when it comes there is nothing better. I came 4th in 2013 so it seems to be a venue where I play well.
How much have you and will you, practise and play at Archerfield Links leading up to the tournament?
I will be there from Tuesday practicing so giving myself three good days to prepare.
How do you rate your current form and what are you working on, or what needs improvement?
I’m going through a swing change. I feel it’s very close to being good. So just need to keep working on that and building confidence. I’m struggling with my putter, so that is what I need to work on the most, I feel once that starts working I’ll be able to start playing some really good golf.
What is your aim and how easy do you think it will be to win here for a second time?
My aim is to win and enjoy the week. Nothing else. What happens, happens and as long as I’ve tried my best that’s all I can do.
How much do you enjoy playing in your country and at this golf club in particular?
I love it very much, once a year we come home so it’s a very special week for me.
Who will act as your tournament caddie and why?
This week I have Max who works with my coach, which I think will be great as he knows what we have been working on and will be there to keep me right, and he’s good fun!
What do you think about the success of your fellow Scottish players on the LET this season, particularly Kylie Walker and rookie Sally Watson?
Yes they have been playing very well this year, it’s always great to see fellow Scots doing well out on the LET.
What can be done to attract more girls to play golf?
I think it’s becoming more popular every day and we have been helping that by becoming more recognised, throughout social media and TV.
What are your goals for the rest of this season?
Keep working hard and get a few results before the end of the season.
