Six events of the 2023 Ladies European Tour (LET) season are complete with lots left to go as we kick toward the European swing which gets underway in only a couple of weeks.
The Jabra Ladies Open is the first tournament of the next stretch where players will see where their game is at as they head into a hectic summer schedule.
With so many players on the LET, we take a look at some players to watch out for over the next weeks and months…
Aditi Ashok
India’s Aditi Ashok currently leads the 2023 Race to Costa del Sol having had a blistering start to the season with her triumph at the Magical Kenya Ladies Open followed by third place in Morocco and second place at the Aramco Saudi Ladies International presented by Public Investment.
The 25-year-old will be balancing her time on the LET and LPGA Tour in the rest of the 2023 season with the Aramco Team Series – Florida the next chance for the two-time Olympian to add more points to her impressive tally.
April Angurasaranee
Thailand’s April Angurasaranee had an impressive start to life on the LET finishing as runner-up in the Magical Kenya Ladies Open at the start of the season. In Singapore, the 19-year-old has a top-30 finish to ensure she sits at the top of the Rookie of the Year standings after the first six events.
Having finished as the top female in 2022 at the Trust Golf Asian Mixed Cup, Angurasaranee is no stranger to proving herself on Tour and will be hoping she can notch a victory by the end of the season.
Klara Davidson Spilkova
Two-time LET winner Klara Davidson Spilkova is another player who has had an extremely consistent start to the 2023 season. After a T40 finish in Saudi in February, the Czech star had a run of top-10 finishes.
A share of fourth place in Joburg followed by sixth place outright in Cape Town and a tie for fourth place in Singapore means Spilkova sits just outside the top 10 in the Race to Costa del Sol as it stands but as a proven winner on Tour, she’ll be looking to triumph once again.
Ana Peláez Trivino
It has nearly been one year since Ana Peláez Trivino burst onto the scene clinching her maiden LET win in her homeland and vastly improving her status on Tour which saw her finish fifth in last year’s Race to Costa del Sol.
Peláez has made changes on and off the golf course to ensure that she is playing at her best throughout the year and with the goal of the Solheim Cup in Spain in September, she will be vying to add more wins to her belt and throw her name in the hat.
Nicole Broch Estrup
It has also been a solid start to 2023 for Nicole Broch Estrup, who sits 12th in the Race to Costa del Sol after the first six events. The Dane has had one top-10 finish so far with T4 at the Joburg Ladies Open, after she put herself in contention once again.
Broch Estrup’s first LET win was back in 2015 and with the consistency of results she has had so far this year, with three further top-20 finishes, she will be hoping to get back into the winner’s circle once more.
Albane Valenzuela
Another player with the Solheim Cup in her thoughts, Switzerland’s Albane Valenzuela is a rookie on the LET this year having earned her card at Q-School in December. Despite only playing two events, she’s had a great start to life on the LET with fourth place at the Lalla Meryem Cup in Morocco and a top-10 finish at the Aramco Saudi Ladies International.
Valenzuela will mainly be playing on the LPGA Tour but watch out for her in the co-sanctioned events and when she returns to the LET. The 25-year-old also recorded a T4 finish in the first Major of the year – the Chevron Championship – and will be hoping to continue that momentum.
Moa Folke
Sweden’s Moa Folke also showed early signs of potentially clinching her first LET win in the opening six events of the season. After winning on the Sunshine Ladies Tour, Folke came into the Joburg Ladies Open in great form and produced a sensational 65 on the third day.
It was a day where nothing went wrong for the Swede and she even holed out on the 18th and despite not having the final day she would’ve wanted, she finished as runner-up – her best result so far on the LET. If the 28-year-old can capture some of that form during the next part of the season, she may well secure her first win.
Alessandra Fanali
Rookie Alessandra Fanali has made the transition from amateur to professional golf look easy so far. The Italian player has teed it up in four LET events so far in 2023 and has made the cut every time.
Solid results in Kenya and Joburg, as well as top-10 finishes at the Lalla Meryem Cup and Investec SA Women’s Open see the 23-year-old sit third in the Rookie of the Year and 19th in the Race to Costa del Sol standings.
Nicole Garcia
South African stalwart Nicole Garcia has continued her good form from 2022 into this season with two top-20 results and one top-30 finish in the first events and her best of tied for eighth place at the Joburg Ladies Open.
Garcia is yet to get an individual LET win and will be hoping she can achieve that in 2023, especially after the success she has had as a victorious captain at the Aramco Team Series – London and Jeddah last year.
Alexandra Försterling
Back in December, Alexandra Försterling earned her status on the LET by finishing top of the leaderboard alongside compatriot Polly Mack at La Manga Club. The German rookie is another player who has had a solid start to her first year on Tour.
With one top-20 finish alongside a couple of top-25 finishes, Försterling is certainly one to watch as she continued to adjust to life on Tour and hopefully get close to triumphing on Tour for the first time.
