PLAYER OF THE MONTH NOMINEES FOR AUGUST 2025 ANNOUNCED

August Player of the Month

The Ladies European Tour (LET) has now wrapped up its tournaments in August, and it’s time to cast your vote for Player of the Month.

The Tour visited London for the PIF London Championship – featuring both the individual and team competitions – before travelling to Sweden for the inaugural Hills Open in Gothenburg.

LET commentators Richard Kaufman and Sophie Walker decided upon the nominees for the 2025 August Player of the Month award.

August Player of the Month shortlist

Meja Örtengren (a) (Sweden)

Wins: 1

Meja Örtengren impressed in front of home crowds securing her maiden LET title on home soil at the inaugural Hills Open while still an amateur. The 20-year-old Stanford University student held her composure in the final round, to pip Germany’s Leonie Harm and Sweden’s Lisa Pettersson to the trophy with a score of six-under-par. The two-time PING Junior Solheim Cup winner became the first player to win on both the LET Access Series and (LETAS) and LET as an amateur.

Expert opinion: “It only seems like yesterday that we were celebrating the amazing amateur win of Lottie Woad. Now another player from the unpaid ranks has upstaged the pros, Meja Örtengren. The Swede arrived on home soil at the Hills Open with some real pedigree, ranked in the world’s top 10, and having played both the Junior Ryder and Solheim Cups. Tied for the lead going into the final round, the Stanford student stretched ahead, and even with some late wobbles, a birdie at the last was good enough to take the win by two shots.”

Leonie Harm (Germany)

Top 10s: 1

Just last year, Germany’s Leonie Harm walked away from golf altogether – until a chance encounter changed her path. On the range in Saudi Arabia, she met coach Scott Edwards, who made subtle adjustments to her swing that suddenly felt like her own again. The Houston University graduate, who has worked in vaccine development and survived an almost fatal accident, proved she can be back competing with the best in the game after T2 at the Hills Open.

Expert opinion: “Leonie’s life over the last decade or so has involved many twists and turns, an incredible journey with enough seismic moments for a thrilling drama series. The latest instalment came at the Hills Open. Harm didn’t win, but she came close, and for a player that had quit the game less than a year ago, a second-place finish was further proof that her U-turn on calling it a day was a wise decision. Not even a year on, and armed with a new swing, the German was in a share of the lead, going into the last round.”

Alice Hewson (England)

Top-10s: 2

England’s Alice Hewson has enjoyed a strong run of form over the past month, as she secured a T4 finish in the individual competition at the PIF London Championship held at Centurion Club. The two-time LET winner then followed it up with a solo seventh-place finish at the Hills Open in Sweden. In a month where she also celebrated her birthday, Hewson’s game is trending in the right direction heading into the last few months of the season.

Expert opinion: “Alice Hewson saved her best for the summer. The Centurion member put her local knowledge to full use at the PIF London Championship, securing her second top 10 finish of the year in some style. Next stop, Sweden and the form kept rolling at the Hills Open. Hewson delivered another strong performance, making it three top 10s in five weeks for the in-form Englishwoman.”

Laura Fünfstück (Germany)

Wins: 1

Germany’s Laura Fünfstück captured her maiden LET title earlier this month winning the PIF London Championship in front of friends and family. The 30-year-old, who got married to fellow LET player Rosie Davies earlier this year, lives in London now and was able to win in her second home. Despite, a nervous start to the final round steadied herself brilliantly, producing a superb back nine that set up a tap-in birdie to seal the victory.

Expert opinion: “You can’t start a fire without a spark on Monday of the AIG Women’s Open. Laura wasn’t even in the field Monday morning, and by Friday she was challenging for a major title. Just a week later, she teed it up in the PIF London Championship, where the 30-year-old now calls her second home. Leading by three heading into the final round, Laura admitted to feeling nervous, and that showed on the front nine, but the German star rose to the occasion, shining on the back nine with a flawless, four-under-par to capture her first LET win. It was a performance full of grit, growth, and lessons learned from the week before, rewarded with her name finally on a trophy. It’s been a special year for Fünfstück, both on and off the course.”
