PETTERSEN LEADS AS ROUND TWO SUSPENDED AT ANA INSPIRATION

The second round of the ANA Inspiration, the first Major of the year, was suspended at 7:03 p.m. PT due to darkness. Fifty-six players will return to the course Saturday morning at 7:15 a.m. to finish the second round. Golf Channel will broadcast the completion of the second round beginning at 7:30 a.m. PT. The first round was suspended on Thursday afternoon due to high winds and wasn’t completed until Friday afternoon.

Suzann Pettersen holds the early lead on day two at Rancho Mirage, California. She returned to the course at 9 a.m. Friday morning to much calmer conditions and posted a 4-under-par 68. She followed that in the afternoon with a 3-under par 69 to lead by one at 7-under par.

“I played really good. It really hasn’t been that long of a day, but I played quite a bit of golf. Just Steady Eddie, just plugging along, hitting good shots, giving myself chances,” Pettersen said.

“I had a lot of chances. Gave myself a lot of looks. That’s all you want on this course. Par is never going to hurt you around this place, but you’ve got to try and capitalize on some of the holes when they set it up the way they do. I’m just thinking really smart.”

Round 3 is projected to begin at 11:15am with a two-tee start. Pairings will be generated using the standard LPGA method with the leaders going off last on hole #1, the median scores first off of holes #1 and #10 and the higher scores going off last on hole #10. There are currently 70 players at +1.
