PEDERSEN EXTENDS RACE TO COSTA DEL SOL LEAD

Big-hitting Emily Kristine Pedersen made history at the inaugural Saudi Ladies International, with a thrilling play-off victory over Georgia Hall to extend her lead atop the Race to Costa del Sol with only two events left this season.

With $150,000 on offer for first place in the Kingdom, Pedersen collected a cool 300 rankings points while runner-up Hall took home 180 to take her from 52nd place up to 5th on the latest rankings.

Pedersen has been on fire all season, only failing to pick up ranking points on three occasions from her ten tournaments, winning twice and finishing inside the top-ten a further three times.

With only two events to play she leads by a massive 393 points and with a maximum of 450 points available for the winner, only Julia Engstrom can mathematically catch the 24-year-old with both players having captured two trophies each in 2020.

Solheim Cup star Caroline Hedwall is another big mover this week, jumping 37 places to 14th with a solo third place finish. The Swede’s closing birdie was enough to gain a few extra positions on the rankings as she seeks to close out her season in style in Spain.

The race for the prestigious ‘Rookie of the Year’ title continues to add more drama to the standings, with Australian 19-year-old Stephanie Kyriacou recording yet another top five finish to move to fourth on the rankings and a 66 point lead from her nearest rival, Alice Hewson.
