Olympic Golf a Huge Success

The first women’s Olympic golf competition in 116 years was a huge success for the Ladies European Tour Members. Last year’s Ladies European Tour Order of Merit winner Shanshan Feng of China took home the bronze medal in the women’s competition in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and was greeted by a large crowd of media and fans on her arrival home at Guangzhou airport on Tuesday.

LET members Charley Hull of Great Britain and Norwegian Suzann Pettersen also finished in the top 10, while Sweden’s Anna Nordqvist, Nanna Koerstz Madsen from Denmark, Su Oh of Australia and Maria Verchenova of Russia all finished in the top 20.

The recent Tipsport Golf Masters champion Nanna Koerstz Madsen (pictured above) ended tied for 13th as the top full-time LET player in the field of 60 competitors.

Meanwhile China’s Xiyu Lin and Maria Verchenova both recorded hole in ones, in the third and fourth rounds respectively.

Verchenova smashed the course record in the final round on Saturday by firing a nine-under-par 62 in a highly successful return to the Olympic Games for women’s golf.
