Nuria Iturrios excited for European Week of Sport

The LET is supporting the European Week of Sport and the #BeActive campaign, initiated by the European Commission and is committed to promoting the benefits of an active lifestyle and physical activity. The European Week of Sport begins today and runs until Saturday September 30, 2017. Each day, we will highlight a different LET member and her philosophy on being active, starting with Nuria Iturrios from Spain.

Who got you into sport and what sports did you try when you were younger?

Since I was little, I loved sports. My dad introduced me to golf but I also practised a lot of sports like soccer, tennis and volleyball.

What about sport makes you happy?

You are active all the time. I feel free and at peace and that is so important for a good mentality.

What are the positive side effects of a sporty lifestyle?

Is it very healthy. You get a routine in your life and that makes you constant and active.

Besides golf, what sports do you participate in actively and why?

I like to play soccer, go running, cycling and go to the gym. I think if you are too focused in just one thing you can lose your mind and it can make you stressed.

What does the #BeActive campaign mean to you and why do you support the campaign?

When you are active, your body and your mind are better with the surroundings and yourself. Being active also makes you happy!

How do you use your position to help and inspire other people to have an active lifestyle?

I imagine that doing a one-hour workout per day will extend and improve your quality of life and as an athlete I want to use my position to spread this message.

Do you want to share a story on how your active lifestyle helped you to overcome a problem?

I had a pancreatitis when I was 19 and the doctors told me that I was so lucky with my recovery. I probably recovered so well because of my active and sporty lifestyle!
