Australian Nikki Campbell is playing in the Evian Championship for the first time this week in her second season as a member of the Ladies European Tour. With seven top 10 finishes from 12 starts this season, including second at the ISPS HANDA Ladies European Masters, she is lying in fifth place on the order of merit and she has another experienced tour player on her bag this week with South African Stacy Lee Bregman acting as her caddie.
Nikki welcome to Evian: what are your thoughts on the place?
It’s beautiful, everyone talks about how beautiful it is and now I know what they are talking about. The golf course is great, it’s tough and it’s long. The facilities are amazing, the views are amazing and I’m loving it.
Do you wish you would have come earlier now?
No, not from Japan, it was a long way to come for one event, but now I’m in Europe, I am glad to have the opportunity to play in it.
Your game has been really good this year?
Yeah, I got some new irons and changed golf balls to Pro V from the Pro V1X, and its help a bit, everything just a bit better.
What are you expectations this week?
I hope to play well and really wait and see what happens. Obviously, I would like to make the cut and things like that.
Does this sort of course suit your game?
It is quite long for me. If I play well it will suit me, but I will have to play well, I will have to strike it well. I hit the ball quite high, so I think that will be good as long as I am hitting them well, I think it is an advantage but you still have to play well and it is quite demanding because of the length.
