Neumann holds lead at Scandinavian TPC

(Barsebäck G&CC, Malmö, Sweden – August 5, 2005) Sweden’s Liselotta Neumann held her overnight lead despite tough conditions in the second round of the €500,000 Scandinavian TPC Hosted by Annika.

The rain poured down from the minute the Swede arrived at the 10th tee: “It was very difficult today,” she admitted, adding: “It was one of those days when you just felt as if you wanted to go inside and get a cup of coffee.”

Neumann, who now resides in Boca Raton, Florida, is in the position to earn her 14th career victory this week. However hers was a mixed bag with four birdies and six bogeys.

“It was a struggle today. I had a really good start as I birdied the first hole but after that it slowly fell apart,” she admitted.

“I messed up a couple of pretty easy shots into the greens and two putted a couple of times.

“I missed the drive on seven out in the woods and took a bogey there. I just had a bad spell but then finally came back on 14, 15, and 16 with three birdies in a row so then I felt better.”

Her performance this week could be enough to convince Catrin Nilsmark to pick her as a wildcard for The 2005 European Solheim Cup team.
