NAVARROSA RELISHING HER ROOKIE SEASON ON THE LET

Having completed four tournaments in her rookie season, Brianna Navarrosa is enjoying travelling the world on the Ladies European Tour (LET), as she prepares to tee it up this week in Johannesburg.

Navarrosa got off to a dream start in Morocco, in round one of the Lalla Meryem Cup. She couldn’t quite hold in the last couple of rounds, finishing T16 after 54 holes, however it was still a solid performance from the American who was in a stacked 108-player field.

Following Morocco, some other highlights in her first five appearances included a tie for third in the Team – PIF Saudi Ladies International, and T10 in the Australian Women’s Classic.

Reflecting on her start to the 2025 LET season, the 22-year-old said: “I just go into it without applying any pressure. I just go into each event day by day, and it’s worked out really well. I like having the mindset that I’m just playing golf, and try to forget that this is my job, as it adds too much pressure and effects my game.

I’m playing the sport that I love. I know I can score well. I started hot in Morocco, playing really well, and the first couple of rounds in Riyadh. Knowing I can compete and be right up there with everybody else has been really great. However, I would definitely say my challenge has been consistency. I start well but need to keep the same form through to the last putt on the last day. I think I add a bit of pressure to myself, so that will all come with time and experience.”

Navarrosa is one of 52 rookies who have joined the LET this year, and will be hoping to make her mark and emulate the success of Chiara Tamburlini, Trichat Cheenglab, and Linn Grant – just a few of the world class stars who recently won the Order of Merit and Rookie of the Year double in their debut seasons.

I love it here on the LET”, said the rookie, who originally comes from San Diego and has been in Southern California her whole life. “I have no regrets. It’s been so fun travelling, exploring new cities, and trying new food. When I went out to Australia last month, I didn’t want to leave. I was like Mum, I’m going to move.”

One of my favourite things to do is go to the beach. That’s why Australia was my dream. After the round, we’d just go to the beach or go for a quick swim. I’m getting out of my comfort zone and trying new things has been great.

It’s just been so nice, and the girls have all been lovely and welcoming. You spend so much time on the road, so meeting a good group of girls has been really great.”

This week marks the first time the 22-year-old has visited South Africa, and it is another country ticked off for the young star. She is staying with fellow rookie Ginnie Ding this week in Johannesburg, who she’s known since junior golf in college.

Navarrosa has completed a couple of practice rounds on Modderfontein Golf Course, having never played the course before and said: “The course layout is beautiful, and the greens are running so nice, especially with all the water that’s been coming in, so I’m really enjoying it.”

I would say some of the tee shots are a bit funky, being quite narrow. Saying that, it’s a scorable course and once you hit your good tee shots and good putts, that will really take you up the leaderboard.

I feel like this course really suits me because I’m very accurate. I’m not the longest, but I’m very accurate with it being so tight. The last event in Australia was so wide and quite long, so found it didn’t suit me as much. I’m really excited to play out here.”

Navarrosa will be playing round one at 12:54pm local time tomorrow, alongside Japan’s Ayako Uehara and South Africa’s Isabella van Rooyen.
