(Zandvoort, the Netherlands, September 16, 2005) – Elizabeth McKinnon from New Zealand holds the first round lead at the €165,000 KLM Ladies Open at Kennemer G&CC, in Zandvoort, the Netherlands.

“I was the up and down queen today,” said McKinnon, whose round included two birdies at the seventh and 13th holes and two bogeys at the first and 11th.
“I don’t think I’ve hit that few greens all year as I only hit five, but I hit the ball well and it was just because of the wind.”
McKinnon, 27, is married to her caddy Roy, and her sister is the LET sports psychologist Vicki Aitken.
She credited her sister and a new Titleist Scotty Cameron putter for her success today adding: “I just took one shot at a time, which is something we’ve been working on.”
“The front nine, which was my back nine, was more sheltered and 13, 14 and 15 were very windy.”
With the tough and windy conditions, level par was the target to beat heading into the second round tomorrow.
Pilgrim, who set the early clubhouse lead, said: “It was a very unusual wind out there today, coming from the north west and very different. I didn’t expect to be up there so I’m happy.”
