Marta Martin recorded her best-ever result on the Ladies European Tour (LET) at last week’s Women’s NSW Open.
The Spaniard produced rounds of 67-70-70 to finish in outright third place on nine-under-par.
It was a result that Martin couldn’t foresee at the start of the week, but she was extremely pleased that it happened.
“I’m feeling happy, I have been playing pretty solid golf since December,” said Martin. “I am feeling very positive about my game.
“I was not feeling very confident at the beginning of the week because I was not very co-ordinated, and we had lots of days with wind. I’m really glad of the work I have done and I have not let my feelings take over.
“I’m happy with the way I have performed and how I have stuck to my plan. Finishing top five, playing good, scoring well, having my fiancé on the bag it’s all good.”
This week the LET has its second week in Australia with the Australian Women’s Classic – Presented by Pacific Bay Resort Studios.
Martin has played in the tournament twice before missing the cut in 2020 and finishing T52 in 2022.
But having had such a positive result, the Spanish player is hoping to carry on her good form to Bonville Golf Resort.
She explained: “You are confident because you know the course, but at the same time it’s very different to Magenta. This week was a links golf course and next week is tree-lined, so everything changes.
“I’m feeling confident because I know the course, I’m playing well. I have to build on from this. This week has made me believe that I can be up there and be able to win. I’m positive about next week. It’s just a very different scenario. I’m excited.”
