Ireland’s Leona Maguire recorded her best finish of the 2026 season so far at the Aramco Championship in Las Vegas.
The Ladies European Tour (LET) winner produced rounds of 70-71-74-71 at the challenging Shadow Creek to end the week T2 on two-under-par as Lauren Coughlin stormed to victory.
Maguire has previously played well around Shadow Creek having finished runner-up in the LPGA Match Play tournament in 2024.
“Any time you can shoot three rounds under par at Shadow Creek you’re pretty happy,” said Maguire. “It’s obviously somewhere I’ve done well in the past and predominantly match play, but the stroke play the one year we did it.
“I’ve always said it’s one of my favourite venues of the year. I felt like my game had been a lot better lately than some of the scores I shot, and it was nice to see that come to fruition this week on really the hardest course I played all year. A really positive week and I really enjoyed the test that was Shadow Creek.”
Following her T2 finish at the co-sanctioned event, Maguire has jumped up to eighth in the LET Order of Merit. She has also climbed 52 places in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings to 62nd.
With Major season approaching, the four-time Solheim Cup star was pleased with the progress in her game.
“I felt a lot more comfortable than I thought I would,” she continued. “I’m still working on plenty of stuff on my swing, but it was nice to see that hold up on this golf course. There are lots of positives heading into the next few weeks.
“Obviously, I’ve got LA and Chevron – the first major of the year. I feel like Shadow Creek has given me more than it’s taken off me over the years, so it’s always one of my favourites. I feel like I’m leaving here with my swing and sanity intact, which is always a good thing.”
