MacLaren still out in front midway through final round

Meghan MacLaren is still setting the pace in the Women’s New South Wales Open and was at 12-under par with a four-stroke lead midway through her final round.

The 23-year-old from Ruston in Northamptonshire stretched her overnight lead from two to four strokes with birdies on the first and third holes. She dropped a shot on the seventh after being short of the green with her second shot but made a gain on the ninth with a solid 10-foot birdie putt to regain a four-stroke advantage over US-rookie Casey Danielson.

The Wisconsin native, a graduate of Stanford University, is the nearest challenger and has the round of the day going at five under for the day, on eight-under, after 13 holes.

Silvia Bañon from Spain, Australian Rebecca Artis and Norwegian Marita Engzelius were five from the lead heading into the back nine.
