(Scarperia, Italy May 16 2003) Karen Lunn from Australia continued her quest to win for the first time in six years by carding a two under par 71 to grab the lead after two rounds at Poggio dei Medici GC in the £125,000 La Perla Italian Open.

Her final birdie came from 25 feet at the uphill par three sixth hole and her favourite tipple of white wine was about to taste better as she kept her first round lead.
“It was a bit scrappy at first out there today, but I got it back OK,” said Lunn, who led going into the final round here last year.
“I thinned one through the green at the 13th into really deep rough, but after that, I played well and even felt I left a few shots out there.
“The pins were tough today and the greens were really firm, so hats off to those who scored low today.
“I’m looking forward to the weekend. You never know your luck. I’m in unchartered territory but I’m not putting any pressure on myself.”
New Zealander Brooky admittedly scraped her round together and two closing birdies in the final four holes was credit to her determination on a tricky day among the rolling hills of Poggio.
“I’m happy that we are up there because we’re sharing the same car this week,” laughed Brooky, the 2002 French Open champion.
“It was a bit of a scramble out there for me, the putting stroke wasn’t too hot today. But tonight I’m definitely going to keep Karen up late with a bottle of white wine as she’s one ahead of me!”
Cavalleri, who has struggled this year on the LPGA Tour in America, was happy to be back home eating Italian food and having her mother on the bag a she posted a three under 70, which included an eagle at the 18th.
