Last week Anna Huang wrote her name in the Ladies European Tour (LET) history books winning the 2025 La Sella Open by seven strokes at the age of 16 years, 10 months and 22 days.
The Canadian star has now had a few days for her achievement to fully sink in as she prepares for this week’s Lacoste Ladies Open de France at Golf Barrière in Deauville.
After her victory, Huang said she was looking forward to receiving messages but even she didn’t expect as many as she has received.
“It’s definitely sunk in now,” said the LET rookie. “I just had a flight out after Spain, so it’s been pretty busy, but I’m just taking it easy these past few days and trying not to be on my phone too much.
“It’s been pretty overwhelming, actually. I didn’t expect that many messages, but it’s been cool. Mostly it’s just been my friends who have reached out. A lot of the Canadians are really proud of me, especially Golf Canada. I think I made Canada proud.
“It was super special because after I walked off that putting green, my mum was the first person I wanted to call just because it’s such a special moment. Even though she wasn’t there with me, just being able to call her is really important.”
Following her win, the 16-year-old climbed from 50th to 22nd in the LET Order of Merit and up to sixth in the Rookie of the Year rankings.
The teenager has played the last three tournaments in a row and is making sure to focus on her rest and recovery ahead of this week’s event.
However, Huang is expecting some unpredictability in the weather this week and believes that’s the biggest challenge in France.
She continued: “I’m not trying to give myself too many expectations here. I’m just keeping it simple and prioritising my rest and recovery, because after a long stretch of Houston, Switzerland, and Spain.
“There was so much travel going on and so much happening that I just had to stay in my own lane. I think the weather is going to play a big factor this week. It’s a little bit unpredictable here with the wind, so we’re just going to have to see that out.”

With her victory last week, Huang has also secured her spot in the events in Chinese Taipei and China in a few weeks.
Those tournaments have extra meaning for the LET winner as her family are from China and she will get the opportunity to visit them all for the first time in 10 years.
She added: “At the beginning of the season, when I didn’t even have full card, planning my schedule was so stressful and there were some events where I was first or second reserve and it was just a lot to handle.
“Now that I have a full card and I’m playing China and Wistron, which is super special, I get to see my family as well, so having them support me is going to be really cool. We’re going to go back after this event because it’s the Asian swing next. It’s going to be fun to see all my family, because I haven’t seen them in like 10 years.”
Huang will tee it up in the first round on Thursday at 1.03 pm (local time) alongside France’s Nastasia Nadaud and Germany’s Alexandra Försterling.
