(Tytherington, Cheshire – 21 October 2005) — The Ladies European Tour has received a record number of entries for its Qualifying School for the 2006 season.
A total of 165 prospective members have signed up for this year’s Qualifying School which takes place from November 16-22nd at La Cala Resort, near Malaga, in Spain.
The number of players entering LET Qualifying School has increased steadily year-on-year over the last decade as golf has become increasingly popular as a chosen profession.
“We are delighted that a career as a touring golf professional continues to be so attractive to so many talented new players,” said Alexandra Armas, Executive Director of the Ladies European Tour.
“Women’s golf is truly in its ascendancy both in Europe and throughout the world and, with increased levels of global competition at the very highest echelons of the game, we look forward to welcoming a new class of elite professionals to contend in the coming year.”
This year, 119 players will be required to attend the pre-qualifying competition over two rounds. Players who are successful at Stage I will join 46 players who are already exempt to make a field of 90 players (and ties) at the Final Stage.
Those who have entered pre-qualifying include former Curtis Cup players Heather Stirling and Vikki Laing from Scotland, as well as Fame More and Danielle Masters from England.
A full list of entries can now be found in the Tour Information Centre on the official website: ladieseuropeantour.com
