The Ladies European Tour (LET) is ready for a second week in Scotland with the AIG Women’s Open at St Andrews.
After last week’s ISPS HANDA Women’s Scottish Open, next up on the calendar is the final major of the year.
The Old Course at St Andrews is the venue for this year’s AIG Women’s Open and it is the third time the event will have been played there with 2013 and 2007 being the previous editions.
A field of 144 players will be teeing it up in a 72-hole stroke play competition and there will be a cut to the top 65 professionals and ties at the end of the second round.
There is a total prize purse of USD $9 million is up for grabs with the winner receiving a cheque for $1,350,000.
World number two Lilia Vu returns to the tournament as defending champion having captured a six-stroke victory at Walton Heath in 2023.
Last year’s runner-up Charley Hull comes into this week in good form after a fifth-place finish at the ISPS HANDA Women’s Scottish Open.
Winners from this season on the LET and LPGA Tour are ready to battle it out at the Home of Golf in what will be a testing week.
All three medallists from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will be teeing it up with New Zealand’s Lydia Ko, Germany’s Esther Henseleit and China’s Xiyu Lin all in town.
It is also crunch time for the 2024 Solheim Cup as the final major of the year marks the final qualifying event for the European and U.S. Teams with the teams being announced early next week.
The AIG Women’s Open will take place from Thursday 22 August until Sunday 25 August at St Andrews (Old Course).
