LET Members on Being Active

Several LET Members are at the Evian Championship in France this week, where they are supporting the European Commission’s campaign to #BeActive.

This week marks the European Week of Sport, running from September 10-17, with a flagship event today in Brussels with the theme: ‘Good Governance in Sport.’

As well as being active on the beautiful Evian Resort Golf Course, LET Members are well aware of the benefits of keeping in top condition through a range of other sports and exercise activities.

Isabelle Boineau, the recent winner of the Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open on the LET and the first player to tee off today in the Evian Championship, commented: “My father got me into sport when I was young. I grew up in Marseille in southern France and it is a great place with lots of sport on offer. I did swimming, judo and squash and various other sports and it was a great way for me to overcome my shyness and become more confident.

“When I chose golf and became committed to becoming a professional golfer, I still continued to do other sports, mainly squash. It keeps me fit and healthy and gives me energy so I can I think and perform better. It also gives me an opportunity to maintain my friendship with my non-golfing friends. We meet up to play squash and update each other on our lives and occupation.”

Mike Round, LET Director of Membership and Development, commented: “Our athletes on the LET are great role models for young girls. Being a member of the LET means you take responsibility for your actions and you are approachable to people around you, in other words, you are a great ambassador for the sport. The #BeActive campaign and the European Week of Sport is a way for us to highlight our members and the philosophy behind our beliefs in getting active and doing sport and the positive results that will come as a result.”
