LET ANNOUNCES NEW ADDITION TO THE 2023 SCHEDULE

  • LET agrees three-year deal for new tournament
  • Golf Son Muntaner will be the host venue for the event

The Ladies European Tour (LET) today announces an additional tournament to the 2023 schedule which will take place in November in Mallorca one week prior to the Race to Costa del Sol season finale.

Emotion sports España will be the promoter for the Mallorca Ladies Open and it will be played at Golf Son Muntaner, which previously hosted the DP World Tour Mallorca Golf Open in 2022.

Golf Son Muntaner, which opened in 2000, was designed by architect Kurt Rossknecht and is considered to be one of the most beautiful courses in the Balearic Islands.

The tournament, which is supported by the Mallorca Tourist Board, has signed a three-year agreement and this year’s edition will take place from 16-18 November 2023. The field will be comprised of 72 players consisting of 64 LET players and eight invites.

It will be a 54-hole stroke play tournament with no cut, due to the field size, with a prize fund of €400,000. Official World Golf Ranking points and Race to Costa del Sol points will be awarded.

Edwin Weindorfer, CEO of e|motion, commented: “We are delighted to welcome the elite players of the Ladies European Tour to the beautiful island of Mallorca. It will be the first time ever that the stars of the LET will gather in Mallorca, just a few weeks after the heroic defence of the Solheim Cup on Spanish soil. The stage is set at Son Muntaner Golf Club, a perfect venue for professional golf and a fantastic partner of e|motion throughout the years. After bringing the DP World Tour to Son Muntaner last year, we are proud to host Europe’s best female golfers in 2023. They will compete in a brilliant surrounding just outside Mallorca’s vibrant capital, Palma de Mallorca.”

Alexandra Armas, CEO of the LET, said: We are delighted to bring Europe’s best female golfers to Mallorca for the very first time. I would like to thank Emotion Sports España and the Mallorca Tourist Board for their vision in making this happen and helping to elevate what is already a record-breaking schedule on the Ladies European Tour (LET).

“Golf Son Muntaner is one of the most beautiful courses on the island and we look forward to showcasing the world-class venue in our penultimate event of the season.

“Spain’s commitment to women’s golf remains second to none in Europe and our players love coming to this very hospitable country. As a Spaniard this makes me incredibly proud and I look forward to staging another fantastic event in the region.”
