Last year Trish Johnson added another accolade to her long list of achievements when she was part of the winning Team in Florida.
The LET legend teamed up with France’s Pauline Roussin-Bouchard, Spain’s Nuria Iturrioz and amateur Michael Bickford.
Though Johnson has 19 LET titles to her name, it was a special week for the Englishwoman in Florida.
“They were fabulous memories, I’ve got to be honest I didn’t do a lot myself,” she said. “I had a great team with Pauline Roussin the captain and Nuria Iturrioz – a great Spanish player – and Michael our amateur was great as well.
“I think I contributed a little bit in the two days, but not a great deal. It was great fun and these tournaments it’s a difficult one because there’s an Individual as well and as professionals, that’s what we’re trained to worry about.
“But you get into the team aspect as well especially if you really get on with your team mates, it can be a lot of fun and those two days were spectacularly good fun.”
The event returns to the Sunshine State once again but this year it’s the Aramco Team Series Presented by PIF – Tampa being held in Clearwater.
Feather Sound Country Club is the host venue which will see two competitions happening side by side with the 54-hole Individual stroke play and the 36-hole Team event.
Johnson is hopeful of another good week and is playing alongside defending champion Carlota Ciganda and LET rookie Annabell Fuller.
She explained: “It’s going to be very low scoring if the weather is good, but for me that’s not a bad thing because there’s a lot of mid to short irons and that’s the strongest part of my game.
“A lot of the times when I have played in the last six or seven, I am only thinking about the team aspect because I am thinking what’s the chance of me winning. This week is a little bit different because I am playing really well and this golf course suits me. There’s a lot of short irons which is my forte.”
