Germany has announced that Miriam Nagl, winner of the 1998 Finnish Ladies Championship – has had to pull out of the tournament following a skiing accident during a recent holiday.
She is replaced by 23-year-old Denise Simon. Simon boasts a prolific amateur record, winning the German, Swiss, Portuguese and Austrian Amateur Championships. The Heidelberg golfer also came second in the Spanish Amateur Championship and third in the British and French Amateur Championships.
Simon, whose best finish on the LET in 2006 was a tie for 15th in both the Vediorbis Open de France and the Wales Ladies Championship, will be joined in the German team by Anja Monke. Twenty-nine-year-old Monke finished 14th on the LET money list in 2006 with four top tens.
The Herford resident came close to her first victory last year, finishing runner-up twice at the KLM Ladies Open and the OTP Bank Ladies Central European Open.
Sweden returns to Sun City as the defending champions, while South Africa is once again represented by veteran Laurette Maritz and teen sensation Ashleigh Simon.
