With sustainable development of golf at the heart of their mission, golf in DUBAi and the Ladies European Tour have committed to staging the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters for another three years.
“We are looking forward to another three years of unforgettable sporting moments,” Mohamed Juma Buamaim, vice chairman and CEO of golf in DUBAi, said after signing the fresh contract with Ivan Khodabakhsh, CEO of the Ladies European Tour on Friday.
“The renewal of the contract is a testament to the growing global popularity of the sport and golf tourism in the region and Dubai, in particular,” he said. “We are very happy to continue our association with LET because we believe in women’s golf.
“The partnership with LET provides us with a fantastic platform to develop women’s golf because it is very important in this market that we see youngsters playing the game.
“Events like this make it much easier to show people in this part of the world that this is a sport for everybody, especially for young girls who work very hard. In this tournament, we have seen a lot of girls who have come from nowhere in a short time, which means the region is catching up with the sport.”
Khodabakhsh agreed. “We are here to develop women’s golf and we hope that our players, especially the younger ones, can inspire a huge new generation of picking up the sport. We are very happy to extend our partnership with golf in DUBAi” he said.
Meanwhile, talking about the 2015 LET schedule, Khodabakhsh said: “We have significantly increased our prize funds for next year. We have a number of tournaments, four of which boast a prize fund over Euro. 500,000, similar to Dubai.
“However, it’s not all about how many tournaments we have on the schedule, it’s about quality that brings value for our promoters instead of just adding more promoters. In 2012, we broadcasted 194 hours globally and this year we will surpass 2,700 hours. This is what counts, this is what we bring – first-class value to the tournament.
“Whether it’s the Korean Tour, the Chinese Tour, LPGA or Japanese Tour, if all of us grow, we grow women’s golf.”
