La Sella Open, created in 2023, hopes that its second edition will be designated for the second consecutive year as the best tournament on the Ladies European Tour.
In its debut on the LET calendar, La Sella Open was chosen by the players themselves as the best tournament on the Ladies European Tour and, with a €1 million, as the professional golf competition with the highest overall prize pool in the history of Spain. This year, its organiser wishes to highlight the exquisite presentation of the Alicante course of La Sella Golf.
This competition is part of the Ladies European Tour calendar and will take place between the 19th and 22nd September with the participation of the best golfers of the LET. The course has been fully renovated and covered with bermuda, a type of grass that, in addition to requiring less water, looks fantastic and is well adapted to the Alicante climate.
“We have made a major investment to ensure that the course is in the best possible condition, not only by using grass that is more suited to our weather conditions, but also by modernising our irrigation system, which allows us to achieve optimum levels of maintenance while consuming less water,” says Carlos García, Director of La Sella Golf.
Another important factor that distinguishes La Sella Golf as a very special tournament within the Ladies European Tour is Jimena Blanco, head of course maintenance, who leads the largest contingent of female volunteer greenkeepers in the history of the LET. In total, there are 12 ladies from across Spain, professionals in the maintenance of green areas.
Jimena Blanco considers that “the dream of our team this year is not only to renew the award for the best tournament of the season on the LET, but also to win the award for the best presented course. Our whole team has been working all summer with great enthusiasm, improving detail by detail, to get to the week of the Open with the course in the best conditions.”
