KOUSKOVA EXPECTING GOOD TEST AT SUNRISE GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB

Sara Kouskova

Sara Kouskova is having a good run of form of late with two top-10 finishes in the last three events.

The Czech star recorded her best-ever result on the Ladies European Tour (LET) at the La Sella Open with a third-place finish.

She then followed it up with a T10 finish in the Individual event at last week’s Aramco Team Series presented by PIF – Shenzhen.

This week sees the 2024 Wistron Ladies Open – Taiwan taking place at Sunrise Golf and Country Club.

Kouskova was excited to be able to return to Asia for two weeks and has been doing some exploring while here.

“I was excited to go back to Asia after having the European stretch,” she said. “I got excited to come back to Asia and trying Asian food and playing different courses.

“Also having to adjust to the different types of grass, but I think we have been doing it well I guess because both Spain and last week were similar Bermuda grass.

“It’s very important to do something else other than golf, not to get overwhelmed too much, so a little switch up here and there is good. Shenzhen was mostly trying new food.

“We did laundry here yesterday which was quite an experience. We are in the country of milk tea, which is exciting, I like to do different stuff apart from golf when we can.”

It is the fifth edition of the Wistron Ladies Open, which came on the TLPGA schedule in 2020, but it is the first time it has been co-sanctioned by the LET and TLPGA.

Getting the opportunity to play with players from other Tours is something unique and Kouskova has enjoyed seeing other people’s games.

“I think it’s always great when you get to see players who don’t play every week,” she continued. “It adds to the Tour excitement a little bit.

“It’s different with parts of the game, they do play differently, it’s more stable and way more consistent at times. It’s a great chance to expand on the game itself. We played with Muni [He] last week which was very enjoyable, and she drew in a lot of crowds too.”

Sunrise Golf and Country Club is the venue this week and Kouskova believes it offers a different challenge with wide open fairways and small greens.

She added: “There is lots of undulation with quite a bit of wind expected. The greens aren’t going to be super-fast but seem to be tricky and small, we will see.

“I think it’s going to be a good test and lots of patience needed around the greens especially since there’s a lot of grain as well and with the winds being forecasted, I think it’ll be tricky.”
