KIM METRAUX HAPPY TO BE BACK ON HOME SOIL AT VP BANK SWISS LADIES OPEN

Golfpark Holzhäusern has been a happy hunting ground for Kim Metraux and the Swiss star is excited to be teeing it up in her home tournament.

For the past two editions of the VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open, the 26-year-old has put in excellent performances finishing in a tie for third place in 2020 and 2021.

And in a season where she sits 25th in the Race to Costa del Sol, Metraux is looking forward to playing in her homeland once again.

“It’s great to be back,” she said. “It always feels special being back here, so I’m really excited for the week and I’m happy to be here.

“I don’t want to put too much pressure on myself with a result in mind, but I want to keep enjoying it as much as I have the last two times. Hopefully, I can do a bit better than the last two editions – that would be great – but no matter what happens it will still be a good week playing at home.”

The Olympian, who lives in Lausanne, is having a solid season on the LET with three top-10 finishes including second place at the Joburg Ladies Open.

Earlier in the summer, Metraux saw her sister Morgane win the Ladies Italian Open and enjoyed having her sibling playing on the Tour.

“It has been good, I’m fairly happy with my season,” she continued. “I got a few top-10s, I’m safe for my card for next year which is a plus compared to last year when I was coming into this event. “Obviously, I saw my sister winning and I got close this year finishing second at the Joburg Ladies Open – winning would be a great addition to this year. It would be fun to get above Morgane in the Race to Costa del Sol and pass her, so we can laugh about it. We’ll see what happens in the next few events.

“I loved having Morgane here. It was great and Italy was obviously very special. I hadn’t seen her for six months because she had been over in America. Her coming back and us playing together in the same events and having our parents there was very special and then we got to play a few more events together, I definitely enjoyed it.”

This week Kim has dad Olivier on the bag with her – the first time he has caddied for her at the VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open – and she will tee it up alongside Pia Babnik and Ines Laklalech.

While the Swiss star is also looking forward to having some family watch her including her husband Rodolphe – after the duo officially tied the knot a couple of weeks ago.

She added: “Dad is on the bag – it’s the first time I’ve had him on the bag at this tournament. I’m excited. Having family around is always nice, especially in Switzerland and I know I have some familiar faces coming, so it will be good.

“I have my now-husband, my fitness coach and my performance coach and my mum is here as well. It will be nice to see them on the course and have the support as well from the rest of the Swiss crowd.”
