Julie Greciet, who earned her first Ladies European Tour title at the Sberbank Golf Masters in the Czech Republic in late July, is making her first appearance in a major championship this week.
The 27-year-old from Bayonne played on the Evian Resort Golf Club course when she attended Evian Championship Pre Qualifying in June, but she retired from the qualifier through injury.
On the course, she said: “It’s very nice, I like it. It’s difficult because it’s a little long for me and the greens are very tough, but I want to try to play my best golf this week.”
Playing the Evian Championship in her home country of France is dream come true for the seventh season professional whose father Roger will act as her caddie again following their success in Pilsen.
Practising with a strapped wrist, she explained: “I had surgery in February and I have played a lot so it’s not very good, but it’s okay.”
She will play with Italian Solheim Cup player Giulia Sergas and Spain’s Belen Mozo for the first two rounds and she said: “I think on the first tee I will be a little nervous but it’s fun because I’m staying with my family.”
