Malene Jorgensen from Denmark |
Malene Jorgensen holds the clubhouse lead in the second round of the Turkish Airlines Ladies Open at National Golf Club in Belek, Antalya.
The 27-year-old from Odense in Denmark, who is yet to win in five years on tour, started the day at five-under-par and played the front nine in level par before picking up a birdie on 10 to tie with the opening round leader Heather MacRae.
Jorgensen pulled one clear at seven-under par after a birdie on 15 but then double bogeyed the par-3 16th after finding the water to drop back to five-under before signing for a level par 73 today.
There was a four-way tie at the top by mid-afternoon between Jorgensen, Vikki Laing, Klara Spilkova and first round-leader Heather MacRae, who began her second round at 3.18pm local time after a two hour delay due to electrical storms this morning.
Valentine Derrey recorded a 69 to end four-under earlier in the day. She began her second round at 7.41 and had made one birdie, on the long 12th, when play was suspended for two hours due to electrical storms in the vicinity.
“I stayed in the clubhouse and played Uno,” she explained. Shortly after the stoppage, she made birdie on 15, the par 5 and then three more in a row from the third before three-putting on nine.
“I played the first round with 18 holes of rain so this was a little different. The course is pretty nice despite the rain it had so hopefully it will stay dry,” said Derrey.
Despite a few showers this morning, conditions are now warm and sunny with a pleasant slight south easterly breeze.
