ITURRIOZ AIMING FOR A HAT-TRICK AT LALLA MERYEM CUP

Spain’s Nuria Iturrioz is back in Rabat and relishing the opportunity to win her third Lalla Meryem Cup at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam.

The four-time LET winner heads into this week as a previous champion having clinched the title in 2016 and 2019.

The Spaniard returns to Morocco in search of a record third title in this tournament and believes her game is in a good place.

Reflecting on her win back in 2016, the 2023 La Sella Open champion said: “It was a great memory. It’s always going to be.

“That was my second LET tournament ever. It was unbelievable. It is a memory that I will never forget.

“I wish to complete the hat-trick this year of course. I’m going for it this year but if not this year, it’s going to be the next or the next for sure. I will win again!

“It would be one of the most special things I’ve ever achieved for sure.”

Iturrioz has had a mixed start to the season finishing 23rd at the Magical Kenya Ladies Open and missing the cut at the Aramco Saudi Ladies International Presented by PIF.

But this week with friend, Piti Martinez Bernal on the bag she’s excited to get started on a course so familiar.

Piti has been a friend for a long time now so it’s fun to have her. She makes the rounds more fun.

“I know the course well, but I just need to adapt on the greens. I just want to start now, I can’t wait.”

Iturrioz gets her hat-trick campaign underway at 13:34pm alongside the Netherland’s Anne Van Dam and Sweden’s Johanna Gustavsson.

“I’m feeling good, it’s a mental game so I will just try to have fun, enjoy it and do my best.”
