Interviews with Finnair Masters winner Bettina Hauert and runner-up Johanna Westerberg

Westerberg – finished a career-best second

Johanna Westerberg
Q. That was your best finish of the year. How pleased are you?
Westerberg: Yeah. I played really well this week, I just made a couple mistakes here and there.

Q. Were you feeling confident today?
Westerberg: Yeah, but I wasn’t that excited about going out when I saw the weather report. I thought I might not be able to play all 18 holes but once I got going it wasn’t that bad. I had a good caddie and I got off to a good start. I was two-under in the rain before I made my triple bogey.

Q. What happened there?
Westerberg: I just made a bad second shot. I got a really bad lie on some mud and messed everything up. I just tried not to care too much about it. I made a good comeback with two straight birdies, so it was good.

Q. You looked as though you were having fun out there.
Westerberg: That’s my goal for the whole season – to have fun and be relaxed. If I make a mistake, I don’t care about it. Mistakes happen.

Q. What was it like playing with Kaisa Ruuttila and Bettina Hauert?
Westerberg: It was fun. Of course, playing with Kaisa we get a good crowd. Playing with Betty was fun, we were laughing the whole way round. I made a birdie and she really tried hard. It was a good fight all the way.

Q. Where are you next?
Westerberg: I am playing Denmark, then I am having a week off. Finally! It’s my fifth week in a row and I am a bit tired, but I’m not complaining.

Q. You had a hole-in-one here, as well. You will have good memories from here, won’t you?
Westerberg: Yeah, it was my second ever, and it’s been a fantastic week. Even though the course is wet the greens are fantastic. We get taken care of so well, we love coming here.
