Impressive Major Debuts

Belgium’s Olympic golfer Chloé Leurquin, Sweden’s Lina Boqvist and Marta Sanz from Spain all made the cut on their Major Championship debut in the 40th Ricoh Women’s British Open at Woburn Golf Club.

Chloe (above) opened with rounds of 74 and 71 for a midway total of one-over-par heading into the weekend. Meanwhile Boqvist, (below), had rounds of 74 and 71 and Sanz (further below) recorded 72 and 73 for the same halfway score.

boqvistAll three players have come through the LET Access Series, where Leurquin claimed her maiden professional victory at the 2013 Mineks Ladies Classic and finished fourth on the Order of Merit, graduating to the LET in 2014.

Boqvist was second on the 2014 LET Access Series Order of Merit after earning victory at Onsjö GC, which gave her a card for the 2015 LET, where she posted a career best third place finish in the Czech Republic. Sanz won the 2014 Ingarö Ladies Open on the LET Access Series and is a second year member of the Ladies European Tour.

Spanish amateur Maria Parra, the current LET Access Series Order of Merit leader, also made the cut after opening rounds of 69 and 74 for a one-under-par halfway total. She is playing in the third round with the world number one, Lydia Ko. Parra recorded her first LETAS victory at the 2016 PGA Halmstad Ladies Open at Haverdal.
