(Sant Cugat des Valles, Barcelona October 1 2004) Karine Icher from France carded the third round of 62 this season on the Robe di Kappa Ladies European Tour to take the first day lead on seven under par at the €180,000 Catalonia Ladies Masters at Club de Golf Sant Cugat on the outskirts of Barcelona.

“I have been happy with my season and it has been much better than last year,” added the Frenchwoman. “When I stand over the ball I now know where it is going and I have a lot more confidence, so I am feeling relaxed when I play.”
Alfredsson also produced a faultless display at the end of a frustrating season and after 19 victories around the world in a 15-year career, the 39-year-old from Gothenburg admits that she is still enjoying her golf as much as she ever did.
“It’s been a tough season,” said Alfredsson. “I started really well in America and then I had trouble sleeping past 2am for about two and a half months and that didn’t help.
“I enjoy playing still and it’s funny when I talk about maybe quitting I start enjoying it more and I still get a big kick out of it.

“It’s the sort of course that you can do what Karine has just done and I reckon someone could shoot 59 around here if you can get the putter going and I putted as well today as I have done all season.”
In the race for the Ryder Cup Wales rookie of the Year, Becky Brewerton from Wales posted a one over par 70 and has taken the advantage over 19-year-old Blomqvist whose eight over par 77 was in stark contrast to her ability to score low.
Brewerton trails the Finn by 35.98 points and will need to finish at least in the top four to prevent the Finn from winning the title of best newcomer to the LET.
