The Aramco Team Series presented by PIF is heading to the vibrant metropolis of Seoul for the second leg of the five-part global event series, as the Ladies European Tour (LET) makes its debut in South Korea.
The event, set for 10-12 May, will see 36 teams, each comprising three professionals and one amateur, competing to claim the team title, before the professionals battle it out on the final day to secure the individual title.
For its debut in South Korea, Golf Saudi will partner with KOLON Group, the Official Host Partner, to bring top-tier global talent to Seoul. Leveraging KOLON Group’s experience in organising premier events such as the Kolon Korea Open, this collaboration aims to deliver a world-class experience for both players and spectators.
A major player on the world stage, South Korea’s prominence in women’s golf is undeniable, with the nation securing eight of the last 15 U.S. Women’s Open titles, whilst also making up 15 of the top 50 of the current Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings.
Contributing to the growing success of golf in South Korea is World No. 9 and Amundi Evian Championship winner, Hyo-Joo Kim, who enters the tournament as the home crowd favourite.
For Kim, competing in Seoul as part of the LET, serves as a major source of motivation to clinch her first Aramco Team Series presented by PIF title, on her series debut.
Hyo-Joo Kim said: “I’ve heard from those on Tour how special Aramco Team Series events are and how they are set up like a Major. As soon as I heard the series was heading to Korea for the first time there was no doubt that I would be competing.
“The unique format of the event excites me; I’ve never played in a tournament quite like it. I’m looking forward to competing with some of my fellow LPGA players here on Korean soil, and exciting the passionate crowds.”
Kim will be joined by LPGA star Danielle Kang, who is on the hunt for her first win since 2022. The Major winner is no stranger to the city, sharing a deep connection with South Korea thanks to her own Korean heritage.
Danielle Kang said: “I’m thrilled to be participating in the Aramco Team Series in Korea. I absolutely love the team aspect of this series and can’t wait to play alongside great field of golfers from both the LPGA and LET. I am very thankful for this opportunity and excited to compete in Korea.”
Set against the idyllic backdrop of the Bukhansan Mountain, the New Korea Country Club will be opening its doors to the public for the first time in 38 years – having been an exclusive and highly sought after members’ club, just thirty minutes from the city.
The immaculate course, richly lined with beautiful cherry blossom trees, equipped with undulating fairways and offering breathtaking views, will host the $1M prize funded event, offering the spectators a much-anticipated glimpse at the New Korea Country Club.
Going beyond the greens, the series is deeply committed to empowering women and girls in golf. It focuses on promoting greater participation through social, economic, and environmental initiatives, emphasising inclusivity and accessibility through #SEETheImpact.
Alongside the golf, fans can immerse themselves in cutting-edge activities and take their chance on the greens with virtual reality golf at the Aramco Energy Zone. The fan zone hosts a multitude of attractions for all ages alongside delectable food and beverage, creating the ultimate golf atmosphere.
