England’s Lily May Humphreys secured her spot in the final major of the year through her T20 finish at the ISPS HANDA Women’s Scottish Open.
Three spots were up for grabs at Dundonald Links for players who weren’t already exempt into the AIG Women’s Open.
Rounds of 71-73-74-71 in Scotland were enough for Humphreys to finish in a share of 20th place on one-over-par.
The Englishwoman booked her place at St Andrews (Old Course) alongside American Caroline Inglis and Korea’s Haeji Kang.
“It’s pretty cool that I managed to qualify today for the AIG Women’s Open,” said Humphreys.
“I got a good round in and tied 20th was enough. I’m super excited to not have to play the Monday qualifier and I can get straight to St Andrews and get stuck into it.
“I will just try and play steady golf again, see what happens and try not to overthink it – even though it’s a major – just try and stick to my strengths and my gameplan.”
It will be a first visit to St Andrews for Humphreys, who won her maiden LET title at the Joburg Ladies Open in 2023.
Having not done it as an amateur, being able to tee it up at the iconic venue is something the 22-year-old is looking forward to.
She continued: “I have never been to St Andrews before, I never managed to play the St Rule Trophy at St Andrews when I was an amateur so my first time playing there will be a pretty cool experience with it being a major. Lots of things to be excited about and look forward to.”
