Melissa Reid (2008), Anna Nordqvist (2009), Caroline Hedwall (2011) and Carlota Ciganda (2012)…all these players have been named as “The Rookie of the Year” and the question this season is: “Who’s going to be the Rookie of The Year 2013 (and win the Rolex watch)?”
The Rookie of The Year 2013 presented by Rolex is not decided yet and there are only 2 events remaining to end the season. The numbers could not be more tight, as there is less than 4,000 € difference between the top two English players, Charley Hull and Holly Clyburn. Ann-Kathrin LINDNER, the HONMA Pilsen Golf Masters champion is a bit far away and would need an extra 52,000 minimum to catch one of them.
Less than one month ago, before the Sanya Ladies Open started, Holly Clyburn was at the top of this list, followed very close by Charley. Holly’s win at the Deloitte Ladies Open and her 3rd position at the Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open in August helped her to achieve this status. But Charley was not going to give this race up or make this easy for compatriot Holly, rather the opposite.
Hull finished tied for 35th in Sanya Ladies Open and recorded a new top 10 at the China Suzhou Taihu Open (tied for 5th). These latest results helped her to overtake Holly and she is now leading by 3,677 € difference. Not much considering that there are two more events coming.
So, the game is not over and the owner of the beautiful Rolex watch will remain unknown until 7th December. We recommend you keep an eye on these players and stay tuned during the Hero Women’s Indian Open starting 28th November and the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters from 4th to 7th December.
