HULL ENJOYING CROWD INTERACTION IN PARIS

Charley Hull

Charley Hull enjoyed a much better day around Le Golf National carding a three-under-par 69 to move her into the midfield.

An opening round of 81 (+9) was followed up by a one-under 71 on day two of the Women’s Golf Olympic Competition.

But it all clicked into place on the third day of competition for Hull, who had five birdies and two bogeys on her scorecard.

“One hundred percent, I’m heading in the right direction,” she said. “I’m starting to feel like I’m getting more into my game now, so that’s good.

“The birdie at the last was important. Obviously, I just feel more confident now, making more birdies and feeling better in my game and feeling a lot better now going to the AIG Women’s Open.”

The Brit is making her second appearance at the Olympic Games, after making her debut in 2016, but came into the tournament having not had ideal preparation.

Hull had to withdraw from the Aramco Team Series presented by PIF – London at the start of July due to a shoulder injury.

She then played the following week in the fourth Major of the year – the Amundi Evian Championship – but took time off after that to rest her shoulder ahead of the Olympics.

Having blown the cobwebs away, the three-time LET winner is enjoying being able to interact with the crowd and Le Golf National and hoping to finish the week under par.

She continued: “[I want to] finish under par for the week and that’s about it.  I will still try to finish in the top 10, still try to get a medal. Don’t count me out. Winners don’t quit and quitters don’t win.

“I like seeing a lot of young kids out there. I gave them a few golf balls and I gave my GB marker away, and it’s just nice to see the young kids out there. I like interacting with the crowds.”
