Hole-in-one for Schober on LET debut!

LET Access Series Order of Merit winner Sarah Schober from Austria had double cause for celebration after making a hole-in-one during her first competitive round on the Ladies European Tour.

The 24-year-old from near Graz won a three-night stay at the Hyatt Park Sanya after acing the 159-yard par-3 15th hole at Yalong Bay Golf Club using an 8-iron in the first round of the 2016 Sanya Ladies Open.

She said: “It was my first hole in one. I’ve just had an albatross at my home club, so it was pretty exciting!”

Schober has posted nine top 10 finishes including five runner-up spots and a third place from 15 starts on the LET Access Series this year. This is her first tournament on the LET as she has a limited playing category of membership
and she has received invitations to play in Dubai and India.

She said: “It’s my first time in China. It’s hot! I just came straight from Spain where I received my card for the LET because I won the Order of Merit. I’m just pleased that I can be here. I’ve enjoyed my stay!”

She rated her level par opening round of 72 as “so-so,” adding: “I started with a birdie and then struggled a bit, but a level par round is good!”
