Pernilla Lindberg kisses her ball after making a hole in one at the 11th using a 7-iron |
First round co-leader Pernilla Lindberg from Sweden moved a stroke ahead of the chasing pack with a hole-in-one at the 147-yard / 134 metre 11th hole using a seven-iron during the second round of the Turkish Airlines Ladies Open.
She then birdied the 14th and 15th holes to reach six under par, with a three stroke lead over Ursula Wikstrom and Minea Blomqvist in the latter stages of a hot and balmy afternoon at National Golf Club in Belek, Antalya. However, she slipped back into a share of fourth position after dropping five shots in her final three holes.
“It was a seven iron, I held it down a little bit because it was into the wind but it was drawing perfectly and landed a few steps short right of the pin and went in,” said Lindberg, who currently leads The European Solheim Cup standings in the race to Colorado in 2013.
Lindberg signed for a round of 75, ending two shots behind the leaders on one under par.
