Hole-in-one competition marks the beginning of the KLM Ladies Open

Elisa celebrates her ace

In her bid for a maiden victory this week, she will be joined by the Dutch ambassador for the event, 28-year-old Nienke Nijenhuis from Lochem. She will also be joined by the current European number one, Gwladys Nocera, from France.

Denmark’s Iben Tinning, the 2005 European number one, makes her first appearance on the Ladies European Tour in 2006 and after three wins last year; she will be one of the favourites this week.

Virginie Lagoutte of France defends the title she won last year at Kennemer G&CC after a play-off against Eleanor Pilgrim and she, along with Pilgrim, is one of 126 players in the €165,000 tournament.

Following Tuesday’s opening hole-in-one competition, last year’s runner-up Pilgrim, provided some fabulous entertainment with her sister and caddy Nicola (see picture below).

The Welsh are renowned as a talented nation of singers and the Pilgrim sisters provided further evidence with their outstanding performance in front of organisers and other LET members.
